DANIEL SULLIVAN

Maui photographer Daniel Sullivan has spent the past 16 years photographing the beautiful landscape of Hawaii. His landscape, underwater and aerial photography has appeared and been featured in magazines around the world. In 2012 he walked the entire coast of Maui in search of the ancient Kings Highway for his book, “The Maui Coast, Legacy of the Kings Highway.” In 2021, while kayaking off the coast of Maui with his son, Daniel Sullivan was attacked by a great white shark. After their kayak was sunk by the shark attack, and fighting off the shark, they had to swim over a mile in to shore.

His travel work on Vanishing Cultures has taken him from the Eagle Hunters of Mongolia, to the Tribes of the Omo Valley, to the Highlands of Papua New Guinea. His book “Tribes of the Omo Valley,” documented the lives of five tribes between Ethiopia and Sudan affected by the building of one of the worlds largest dams.
