TONI PARRAS
Honolulu artist Toni Parras has a gift for uncovering the extraordinary within the everyday rhythms of island life. Known for her striking fusion of black-and-white photography and hand-painted detail, she creates work that radiates both technical precision and emotional depth. Each piece begins behind the lens, where she captures quiet, intimate moments, floral forms, shifting light, ocean textures, and the contours of Hawai‘i’s landscapes. In her studio, these images evolve as she layers oils, watercolors, and acrylic dyes to build color, movement, and dimension. The result is art that feels alive: flowers sparkling with energy and vistas that breathe.
Her newest series, created on natural wood panels, adds a tactile, elemental quality that resonates with Hawai‘i’s design-forward, nature-inspired sensibilities. The raw grain of the wood anchors each composition, giving the work a sense of modernity and timelessness that reflects the islands’ enduring spirit.
Toni’s perspective is shaped by her Asian-Pacific heritage and years spent living across culturally rich regions, including the Indo-Pacific. An avid diver and long-time conservation advocate, she brings the ocean’s influence into every composition. “My art invites people to pause, reflect, and reconnect with the natural world,” she says.
Toni’s award-winning photography and art have been commissioned by individuals, cultural organizations, and museums, and featured in international publications, exhibitions, and media projects. Her client list includes Art in Public Places, International Game Fishing Museum, Fundación Avina, and Living Aloha Productions (Renovation Aloha with Kamohai and Tristyn Kalama).
